LUMEN Privacy

Privacy Policy

Effective May 6, 2026

The short version. Lumen does not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, location, or any data that identifies you personally. We collect anonymous product usage events to understand which features are used and to improve the app. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

What we collect

Anonymous product analytics

When you use Lumen, the app sends anonymous events to our analytics provider (PostHog) describing actions you take in the app. Examples:

Each event is associated with a device-scoped pseudonymous identifier generated by the analytics SDK. This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID, your email, your IP address (which is dropped), your IDFA, or any persistent identifier across other apps. It cannot be used to identify you.

The brightness slider value is bucketed (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) before being sent. Custom color values are not transmitted in events.

In-app purchase information

If you purchase Lumen Pro, Apple's StoreKit handles the transaction. Lumen receives an anonymous receipt from Apple confirming the purchase. We do not see your name, email, payment method, or billing address — Apple does not share any of that with us.

Diagnostic data (Apple)

If you have opted in to share diagnostics with developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash logs and device performance metrics with us. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.

What we don't collect

How we use the data

We do not use the data for advertising, profiling, or any decision that produces legal effects on you.

Third-party services

PostHog (analytics)

We use PostHog to receive and analyze the anonymous events described above. Events are sent over HTTPS to us.i.posthog.com. PostHog acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by their privacy policy.

Apple StoreKit (purchases)

In-app purchases are handled by Apple's StoreKit. Apple's privacy practices apply.

Data retention

Anonymous event data is retained for up to 12 months for trend analysis. Aggregated counts (with no per-event detail) may be retained longer. You can reset the device-scoped analytics identifier by going to Settings → Reset settings in Lumen, or by deleting and reinstalling the app — this generates a new identifier and disconnects future events from past ones.

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there is no account or profile to access, correct, or delete in the traditional sense. You can:

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive privacy laws, the standard rights under those laws apply (access, rectification, deletion, portability, objection, restriction). Requests can be made by email below.

Children

Lumen is rated 4+ on the App Store. The app is appropriate for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

International transfers

Anonymous event data is processed on PostHog's US infrastructure. By using Lumen you consent to this processing.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Lumen collects or uses data, we'll update this page and bump the effective date at the top. For material changes we'll also surface a notice inside the app on the next launch.
